RX7 fuel pump wiring

I just got an rx7 fuel pump from an 82 rx7. I mounted it and set the filter up and everything works good except for my wiring. Here is the deal. I have a 73 240z, which had the factory electric fuel pump. From what I have read this fuel pump is supposed to go whenever the engine is over 600rpm. I figured this would be the perfect place to wire the rx7 pump up to so I did. This setup is not working. I checked the fuse, and the wiring to it and found a problem. I fixed it and still I am not getting any power to the pump. I have tested the pump, it works.

Has anyone set their fuel pump up like this on their 73 240x or 260z?

73 has a fuel pump to prevent vapor lock because it had the crapy carbs. Anyways i realized that since I have replaced the crappy carbs with SUs the fuel pump wiring won't work. It would work but I would need the throttle servo and silinoid setup. That is too much trouble.

Now I am looking to tap into those wires that are already running to the rear of the car. I can seem to figure out where the wires run. It goes to the back of the car with the fuel pump sending unit wiring. Anyone know where those wires run from under the dash. Lastly, where can I get a feul pressure switch for the fuel pump? Would Kregen have it?

I didn't think the 73's had an electric fuel pump. I know my 72 doesn't.

Yep, '73 did have an electric fuel pump.

Had SU's on my 73 as well. Thinking about putty an electric Holley fuel pump in my 72.

Mistake.

VaGuS510, do a search on the RX7 fuel pump and I think that you will find the info you are seeking.

Yungman, where are you located? You can get most common parts at any good auto parts store. Hoses, fuel line and such aren't hard to find unless you happen to be in the Arctic or something. Take a sample to the store with you, easier for the parts person to have something to see. Not all parts reference books are correct. Trust me, I'm a parts man. LOL

If I understand you correctly , you are looking for the power lead from the fuse box that connects to the Green wire from the pump . Find a wire that has a in line fuse that comes from the power side of the fuse box . It should be to the right of radio or in back of it on the passenger side, where all the wires run out near the heater and glove box. Pressure switch, I just bought a brass tee fitting and screwed it into where the oil pressure sender in the block is . I reinstalled the sending unit into one end and bought a pressure switch at the local parts store that has the same size male threads and connected in to the third port of the tee. Mine closes at 5 psi. then the pump fuel pump will receive power only after that much pressure and none when less . You need to connect it to the power source to the fuel pump of course. If your oil pump fails the engine will quit. If you crash and don't turn off the key and the engine stops the fuel pump will also. I have been running this for over a year with no problems. The RX also .
