EricB Posted April 26, 2006 Share #15 Posted April 26, 2006 i read somewhere that the DOT cracked down on him because somebody over there apparently realised that R32, R33, and R34 Skylines were altogether different cars not versions of the same chassis as he apparently alleged... He had supposedly done all the DOT/EPA conversion for one model car and was selling the other models under the same one rather than also doing the whole conversion for both of the other models... something like that... i'm sure that by selling at $90K a brand new car which in Japan retailed for $50K someone out there must have thought they were getting taken advantage of and called in the authorities or whatever...i'm surprised the loophole was open for as long as it was and that now everyonce in a while you do see a car around LA...-e
sakijo Posted April 26, 2006 Share #16 Posted April 26, 2006 Let's not start that here. If you want to know the whole story, go to Skylinesdownunder and read. By illegal, I meant that they are bringing them in and not going through the DOT/EPA process.
