Bolt replacement

Does anyone put together a complete bolt replacement kit for the 240z... I am putting a lot of time and money into the car and I dont want to put the old rusted bolts back in. Pretty much every bolt, fender, hinges, hood, brackets, etc...

There's a fella there that sells interior bolt and screw kits and exterior bolt and screw kits and engine bolt and screw kits all packaged and labeled as to what they are for.

ALL in Stainless!

Not cheap, but sure seems the way to go to me if you want new and shiney fastners that will stay that way over time.

Which of course happens to be the ones I want. Perhaps this is due to liability reasons? Or perhaps SS is not well suited to the application due to metalurgical or stress factors? Anyone know?

Another thought would be to clean & refinish the old nuts & bolts. There are several methods you could use:

1. Bead blast them

2. Use a vibratory tumbler to clean them

3. Use a rock tumbler to clean them

I noticed that most of the original nuts & bolts on my '73 appeared to be cadmium plated, even the ones that were painted. So, once you've cleaned the nuts & bolts, you could have them re-plated, or simply paint them.

I've purchased a few new nuts & bolts from MSA and Victoria British, you could also try a Nissan dealer.

IIRC, the VB--uh, ahem--Black Dragon Automotive catalog sells almost all the suspension nuts and bolts. What few they don't sell you can probably match at the local NAPA.

I ordered some of the ZCar Creations stuff, and most of it's fine. From memeory, The fender to body bolts are of the wrong head type, so if you're going pure stock look ,plan on buffing up your originals...
