Gasoline Prices, and your Z

Maybe this isn't the correct place to post this, and if not my apologies... But I just gases up the Z yesterday at Costco... Normally I would gas up at a Cheveron with Premium... But yesterday I opted for the Costco Premium gas..

3.15 a gal, and it cost me 30.00 bucks for me to fill it up the 3/4 of a tank I needed for a full tank... How depressing... I finally get the car back together, Spring is here, and summer right around the coner.. and it looks like the Z will be parked in the garage till gas get to the sub 2.80 range :ermm: If we ever see that again...

So just so i don't feel so bad, will gas prices effect anyone elses use of there ride... and how much is gas in your neighborhood... sheeeezzzzzzz

Premium at my usual gas station is $3.34/gal (at least it was a few days ago - probably more by now). My Z is not a daily driver but I do drive it about 50 miles a week. I typically get about 18 to 20 mpg (or less if I feel a bit skippy). So, I guess I'm spending $8 or $9 a week on gas for the Z. Certainly more than I would prefer to pay but still not too expensive to get my Z "fix" ....... !

A little more than 12 gallons cost me $35.75 the other day. Totally sucks. How many miles per gallon do you guys usually get? Im gettin just about 17-18. I guess I never really thought about how bad it is for a little 2.8l fuel injected motor to get less than 20.

I just completed a trip of 386 miles today in my Z and got a little under 20mpg (that still is 20 gallons at $3.35/gal) for a 3.2L triple engine. As I need to replace some u-joints I think I might leave it up on the jackstands for a while.

Here in New England we are having the earlier and nicest spring in over 10 years. Go figure.......

When gas went up again recently, I did some research, and found a gas additive that actually gives me 20% better mileage in my quad cab Dodge truck, it saves me 20%, meaning effectively, every fifth tank is free.

Gas is so high that I am considering putting a deisel engine in my roadster when the time for updating comes around.

I don't like to gripe about things, I prefer to do something about them-the price of gas is out of my hands, but enhancing combustions is not.

Oh man don't even get me going about trucks... i got a Dodge 1500 RAM.. I USE to use it to commute to the locale Park & Ride, plus all of my daily errands... Every freckin week and half I'd be at Costco filling it up to the tune of 60.00 bucks... Finally bought a 700.00 used Prelude off of Craigs List... Best 700 buck I ever spent... Now the truck just sits unless I need to make a dump, or Home Depot run....

Hey guys - sounds pretty cheap to me. Up here in the land of the Offshore oils wells we are paying 1.23 per litre - that's around $5.00 a gallon. Havent filled the Z since November, but I filled the F150 recently - it's got 115 litre tank - you get the picture. :(

Not ready to walk yet though.

Phil,

I use a Z or ZX almost daily and the '86 swallowed up $50.01 to fill up from empty the other day at $3.09 per gallon. Almost makes you want to frame the receipt?

BTW, That is a beautiful 9/70 240Z you have there! I especially like the color. What is the story of your Z?

my Z gets alot better mileage than anything else in the garage. if I didn't smell like exhaust after a 10 mile haul in it I'd drive it to work more often.

Just saw race fuel for $7 a gallon and wondered how long it'll be before 91 octane is that much.
