  1. 1. How far in advance do you buy parts

    • I buy them based on having them ready for my next day off.
    • I buy them as I need them (when something breaks or wears out).
    • I buy them when ever I get the money after they are needed
    • I buy them when ever the mood strikes.
    • I buy them when ever a great deal comes up.
    • I buy them when ever doing so will help out another Z enthusiast (need to sell).
    • I buy them whenever they become available (those made of unobtainium)
    • I buy them to store for when they will be needed
    • I buy them to keep me busy so I stay off the "Boobs" thread
    • I buy them to feel great or to make my Z happy!
    • I buy them to piss off the old ball and chain
      0
    • I buy them to have bragging rights,
    • I buy them because I can
    • I buy them because I must
    • I just take them off Bill Ramseys cars... who needs to buy them...

I bought a engine 2 years before I installed it , I was redoing my Z and pulled the engine and trans. and bought the engine at about the same time . Is this what you mean . I also bought a set of euro stage 1 springs a couple of months back . I plan on installing them this fall . Gary

I have bought parts years in advance of when they might be needed usually because the fear of them becoming NLA from Nissan at some point. I have even been known to buy a set of wheels and then go looking for a car to put them on!

Case in point: the fuel pump relay for a '78 280Z is now NLA from Nissan but thanks to some advice from 240ztt a source at NAPA was identified and from that source I have now purchased four of them. BTW, NAPA still has about 130 left in stock. The good news is that they are made by Niles of Japan the OE supplier to Nissan.

How about "I buy them about half an hour after I need them"

I have driven to the local auto shop with the rear hatch off the car. I was painting it and discovered I needed paint or thinners or sandpaper or something. Can't remember, it was a few years ago.

It's too far to drive to Bill's place, but next time I'm in the country......ROFL

Bill,

I was just recalling the problem you had just after you joined the board-right before your Duck Trading incident!

Bills' place is just a bit beyond the back of burke outside of the territory!

Daddz,

I resemble that remark-Gotta get'em while the gettin's good!

SpeedyBlue,

Me too, In my young and stupid days, I drove a car to the parts house to get some lugnuts(now I know I was the lugnut) with two lugs on each wheel.
