Posted April 30, 200618 yr comment_165654 :rambo: So I got this guy in Italy....has all sorts of NOS weber parts. I decided I did not like the performance of my triples (flat spot during accel) and ordered some different jets, tubes, chokes, etc. They came in yesterday so I decided to re-jet the carbs today. The carbs are 40DCOE18. I am now running 30mm chokes, 120main jets, 135 air correctors, F-11 emulsion tubes, 50F9 idle jets, and the accel circuit has 45 jets, 50 pump bleed and 10mm pump rod stroke. I balanced the carbs and set the idle at 1k, then rebalanced and reset, yall know the deal. Now the car comes off idle smooth with no flat spots or bogs, and pulls steady to redline. I did notice a loss of top end power and she will not pull very hard past 6k in 3rd or 4th, but the car is very torquey and tractable down low. When my new cam comes in from Isky (custom grind) I will probably go back to the 32mm chokes or possibly my 33mm chokes and start all over, but for now it is a blast to drive around town. :D Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19852-weber-dcoe-jetting-part-duex-how-i-re-tuned-my-car/ Share on other sites
May 2, 200618 yr comment_165931 hmm... as I recall... you could reduce the air correctors several steps... this would richen only the high RPM mixture...You could go to 125 mains and leave the air correctors where they are... you may have to increase them a few steps... as long as you don't end up overrich in the midrange.... 3 to 5K...I have DCOE 45- 152s... I am running 34mm chokes with 125 mains and 180 air... I notice that the smaller chokes like smaller mains. May 3, 200618 yr Author comment_165938 I have a Halmeter on the car, I believe I have the mixture right, just that with 30mm chokes on a 2.8L it does not wanna make more power up high. I could be wrong, and a dyno will tell the whole story, but as I said before, I will wait on further tuning after I get my new Isky cam installed. May 3, 200618 yr comment_165959 I tried 30mm chokes in my 45s... I had the same feeling that I was missing high end HP... I only dyno tested the 34mm chokes... 30 and 36mm were my other attempts.. but the 36s would not get on the mains early enough >3300RPM... the 34s still don't come on the mains until 2800RPM... I think the real dyno test for my set up would be between 32mm and 34mm for street and track respectively... I just don't use it much on street... so I have stuck to the 34mm chokes...I never have problems with it boggin down on corner exits.. even in 3rd gear.
