I have F/A knowledge about cars and am looking for some advice.

A 240k 4 door is easily available to me as it was my grandfathers since brand new and now lives sadly but in surprising condition on my uncles property.

Me and a couple of mates were thinking that we might have a go at trying to fix it up on a low budget but try to make it look quite "tuff". We were thinking of just respraying it, getting some wheel flares, wide wheels, rear spoiler and sitting it down a bit lower.

Could people please give me some advice on lowering, changing wheels eg what is the stud measurements?, how hard it would be to fit wheel flairs to the 4 door body, and how hard it would be to fit a torana rear spoiler? remembering that our budget is very low.

Stud measurment is the same as any other datsun. 4 x 114.3.

There was a torana rear spoiler for sale on this forum, I think by khughes.

There was also some lowered King springs for the K on ebay a while ago, so I guess they probably still make them.

I think the coupe K flares will fit. You'd have to cut them along the rear doors edges so the doors could open.

I wouldn't bother with the flares and the torana spoiler, just paint it, put some mags and lower it a bit:

yer that does look rather good, although i am not keen on the wheels... i would be interested in something quite a bit bigger. What is the largest size wheel i can run on the 240k?

Wise words, young grasshopper.

A good set of 14's will look a treat on a 240K. If you want to run slightly bigger brakes, then 15"s should do, although 16's may be needed for uber brakes.

You'll get far better handling on a good set of 14" wheels and tyres, than buying the cheapest 35 series tyres you can afford, to stretch over your 18" fulsik chromies. Leave those to the Civic brigade.

I plan to run 15's on mine to fit the hilux brakes under the front, although I haven't established whether this will be necessary yet. That's plenty big enough for me

Depends on which rotors and which Hilux calipers.

With 250mm solid disks and four spot Hilux calipers you can get them inside 14" wheels. That's the earliest 240k front disks.

With 270mm solid disks and Hilux four spot calipers a lot of 14" wheels scrape on the calipers. A good wheel shop can skim a small anount from the inside of the rim without weakening them significantly.

With any 270mm vented disks and Hilux four spot calipers for 20mm thick disks you will definitely need 15" rims (the caliper is considerably bulkier).

The last combo is what I run inside Performance Industries Superlites in 15x6.

No Idea, clean it up, paint it, lower it some and then see what you think of it. From there you can make some decisions on where to go, one step at a time. These cars are NOT like Holdens or Fords, often a small alteration makes for a really quick car. Maybe not super quick off the line but very capable in roadholding.

Spot on 440K. I have 15 inch Watanabes on mine and they're just right. They fit nicely in the wheel wells (rolled lips on the rear) and don't ruin the lines of the car. Anything bigger and I have to start cutting (ouch!).

I dont intend on putting anything bigger than 15 or 16's on it, i personally think that when the car is lowered it looks really silly and out of proportion with small wheels, out of interest though what is the largest diameter and width of wheel that can go on a stock 240k without rolling guards or whatever you do.

there is certainly a lot of potential for the 240k's i am more excited about my 240k than i was with my R33 GT-R, and the 240K isn't even on the road yet!!!
