Thanks to everyone who helped answer my questions on my 1977 280z. I am interested in putting my car in one of those shows they have at local fast food spots, like Dairy Queen. I would like to hear about some of your experiences doing it, and any suggestions are welcome. Jeanne

Push the volume control. IIRC that turns it on and off. The one with the up and down arrow raises and lowers the antenna. It's been a while but I once had the original radio and antenna in my 78.

THANKS, STEPHEN. NOW I KNOW WHAT THE SWITCH IS FOR, THOUGH IT DIDN'T WORK. I CAN DO THE ANTENNA MANUALLY, OF COURSE. THE RADIO DOESN'T TURN ALL THE WAY OFF BY PUSHING THE VOLUME BUTTON, BUT IT WAS A GOOD TRY. THANKS FOR REPLYING. I LOVE MY CAR!

It wasn't a 'TRY'. That is the way a 77-78 280Z factory radio works. You push in on the SW-VOL-TONE knob to turn it on and to turn it off. If yours doesn't work that was and it is indeed a factory radio, then something is wrong with it. Try removing the knobs and pushing the shaft. Sometimes the inner knob (which Nissan refers to as 'outer side knob #8) has been installed backwards which prevents the outer knob ('inner side knob' #9) from moving inward when you push it.
