Posted May 1, 200618 yr comment_165732 Thanks to everyone who helped answer my questions on my 1977 280z. I am interested in putting my car in one of those shows they have at local fast food spots, like Dairy Queen. I would like to hear about some of your experiences doing it, and any suggestions are welcome. May 1, 200618 yr comment_165733 Push the volume control. IIRC that turns it on and off. The one with the up and down arrow raises and lowers the antenna. It's been a while but I once had the original radio and antenna in my 78. THE RADIO DOESN'T TURN ALL THE WAY OFF BY PUSHING THE VOLUME BUTTON, BUT IT WAS A GOOD TRY. THANKS FOR REPLYING. I LOVE MY CAR! May 15, 200618 yr Author comment_167617 Disconnect the battery, kidding. Welcome to the club! Haha.DEAR DATSUN KID,I THINK YOU'RE RIGHT ABOUT DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY! I TRIED PUSHING IN THE VOLUME BUTTON TO NO AVAIL. I FOUND OUT THE ARROW SWITCH IS FOR RAISING THE ANTENNA. DIDN'T WORK EITHER, AND I DON'T CARE. I LOVE MY CAR! THANKS FOR THE REPLY. May 16, 200618 yr comment_167653 THANKS, STEPHEN. NOW I KNOW WHAT THE SWITCH IS FOR, THOUGH IT DIDN'T WORK. I CAN DO THE ANTENNA MANUALLY, OF COURSE. THE RADIO DOESN'T TURN ALL THE WAY OFF BY PUSHING THE VOLUME BUTTON, BUT IT WAS A GOOD TRY. THANKS FOR REPLYING. I LOVE MY CAR! JEANNE It wasn't a 'TRY'. That is the way a 77-78 280Z factory radio works. You push in on the SW-VOL-TONE knob to turn it on and to turn it off. If yours doesn't work that was and it is indeed a factory radio, then something is wrong with it. Try removing the knobs and pushing the shaft. Sometimes the inner knob (which Nissan refers to as 'outer side knob #8) has been installed backwards which prevents the outer knob ('inner side knob' #9) from moving inward when you push it.
