Posted May 1, 200618 yr comment_165736 Hey Ive pulled the back screws off my series one console to examine my choke cable, what do I have to do to pull the whole console off to replace the cable? Does the radio have to come out? Also I ve got the earliest type choke lever, I havent examined it in detail but what do you do to remove and attach a new cable? May 1, 200618 yr comment_165738 There are two screws at the very back of the console, and one in the coin tray. It is also held down in the front by the top screw for the fusebox, and the screw for the lighter bracket. The lower screw for the fusebox must be loosened as well, as the fusebox pigtails are normally routed over the console mounting bracket.Once you have the console and choke assembly out of the car, it will be easy to see how to replace the cable.
