Posted May 1, 200618 yr comment_165750 Does anyone have any tips on how to tighten the crankpulley bolt down withought the car moving? Does any one know the torque setting as well? I sure do not want that bolt coming loose. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19868-torque-setting/ Share on other sites
May 2, 200618 yr comment_165831 Put an adjustable crescent wrench on the camshaft knobs in between the fourth and fifth lobes and torque the cranshaft bolt to 100 ft lbs Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19868-torque-setting/#findComment-165831 Share on other sites
May 2, 200618 yr comment_165841 I'm sure that Shane means 'camshaft'. I use a long breaker bar and socket on the crankpulley bolt. With that against the ground it holds the engine in place while you torque the cam bolt. May 2, 200618 yr Author comment_165910 So I need to take the valve cover off to put the crescent on there right? Will that scar it up or any thing? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19868-torque-setting/#findComment-165910 Share on other sites
May 2, 200618 yr comment_165913 There's a spot in the area of the camshaft where Shane mentioned that you can tighten the wrench against. I put a block of wood between the head and the other end of the wrench. May 2, 200618 yr comment_165917 I started to think that I read it wrong. But, no it will not scar or hurt the camshaft that is what the notches are for. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19868-torque-setting/#findComment-165917 Share on other sites
