Posted May 4, 200618 yr comment_166191 I am just finishing my offset 3 gallon "fuel cell" and Design Products (old Tilton style) camber plates installation. If I can figure out enough insulation I will be moving the muffler to that side too to help offset my fat a**. May 5, 200618 yr comment_166208 It's so CUTE! Looks good. Plenty strong for the 20 lbs of gas you'll get in there. Moving the muffler is not a bad idea... May 5, 200618 yr comment_166301 Think rear diffuser before moving anything else around back there. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19915-autocross-fuel-cell-install/#findComment-166301 Share on other sites
May 5, 200618 yr comment_166302 I don't know about cute, but it looks good, haha. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19915-autocross-fuel-cell-install/#findComment-166302 Share on other sites
May 5, 200618 yr Author comment_166315 It has an Earls filter-pump and Fram filter all on it as a unit so it is heavier than it looks in the photo. I was going to hang the muffler off of it too. Diffusers aren't allowed in FP or XP. I posted a picture of Darius's diffuser on SCCA forums.com and everyone seemed to think no way. I am thinking of a Scirroco radiator in the rear though which is allowed in both FP and XP. Hmmm, if I tilt the radiator at 7 degrees like John did with his fuel cell........ May 5, 200618 yr comment_166327 A diffuser isn't allowed in ITS either, but Keith Thomas built one pretty much the way I did with a 7 degree rise on the bottom of the fuel cell. I put the muffler on one side of the cell and a flat fuel pump/filter mounting plate on the other. Worked pretty well. The 7 degree rise on the fuel cell was to make sure it meet the SCCA 6" ground clearance rule. May 5, 200618 yr Author comment_166331 I made the fuel cell unit to sit on top of its mounts so I could add spacers for the 6 inch clearance rule. I am trying 23.5 diameter tires and 25 inch diameter tires in the rear. It is set up at 6 inches for the 25 and can be spaced for the 23.5. Maybe a sheet of aluminum set at 7 degrees to "route" the exiting radiator air. May 5, 200618 yr comment_166340 Why the radiator in back? I'm guessing it's to move weight rearward, but by the time you run tubes back and forth aren't you adding a bunch more weight? Maybe you're underweight and it doesn't matter. Anyway, just curious... May 5, 200618 yr Author comment_166341 Yes to move weight to the back. If I run FP I am under weight and you can't set the engine back. Here is a picture of Jesus Villalreal's 400hp V6 Camaro and his radiator air inlet in the side window Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19915-autocross-fuel-cell-install/#findComment-166341 Share on other sites

I'd move the alternator to the back if you're going to run one.Cary Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19915-autocross-fuel-cell-install/#findComment-166359 Share on other sites
