Posted June 19, 200222 yr comment_9072 it may be that the mechanic that runs the shop is either not willing or just more purist type of guy but i asked banzai motorworks whihc specialize in Z repairs and such about the 2.8 turbo swap to my Z. well he says you will have to basically hack the wiring and you wont end up with much more power then a good well built 2.4???????????is this guy nutz or whati thought the 240 had 150 net hp and the turbo had 180 or am i wrong and basically for some good 200 hp just turn up the boost ?whats wrong with this pic. i am wanting to do this but wiring will fry my mind. is it that hard to rewire or not. i have a complete engine, all sensors are present but thats just it. ill need a new or used afm computer and injectors. i could turn that block into a good powerful 2.8 flat top 10:1 scremer with tripples and be in like flinn.id like to do it but just dont know if i can handle the wiring is it just harder then it looks or???would there be anything else i would need or have to do to my 71 to make this workthanks james:ermm: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/1992-to-turbo-or-not-getting-confused/ Share on other sites
June 20, 200222 yr comment_9096 just guessing here but:A well tuned L24 will cost a bit and probably only put out about 200 ish gross hpAn L28 na well tuned which would probably cost just as much will probably put out around 240 ish gross hp An L28 turbo with the boost wound up a bit, (10psi with out an intercooler or 15psi with one is about as high as you can go on a T03 turbo) would probably put out around 240 (@10psi) to 330 (@15psi) ish hp (at the flywheel)not too sure about the wiring but an auto electrician should be able to handle ittake a look at these web sites:http://www.usq.edu.au/users/degroot/240z/http://www.zhome.com/http://www.geocities.com/spized1969/http://www.eng.fsu.edu/~jthagard/otherzs/otherzs1.html Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/1992-to-turbo-or-not-getting-confused/#findComment-9096 Share on other sites
