How is The Project going?

My suspension refresh was delayed for a few months due to the unusually crappy weather this winter, and is now stalled due to my crazy work schedule.

All the suspension/drivetrain components have been blasted, refinished and/or rebuilt and are awaiting re-assembly. New Tokico HP strut inserts and red springs are ready to go in as well. The only thing keeping me from completing it now is a lack of free time and getting all the fasteners plated.

The ignition system mods are complete including the upgrade to a 280ZX dizzy, MSD 6AL, Blaster II coil, and new Taylor Pro wires.

Next comes the brake system. This will consist of a complete rebuild of all the stock components with upgrades coming later. The rebuild parts are all in.

I will also be polishing up the Indy Mags. One is nearly complete. This is a dirty dirty labor intensive job. I decided to sand out all the lathe marks so this is adding additional time and work to the job.

I just want to drive this damn thing for a few months before I rip into it again. !@#$%!

I'm waiting for a free day to rebuild and swap to some 71 SU's. Too many tests in school, and too much work. After that, car should be running good, and going to sand and polish the rims, new tires, and get an alignment.

I'm taking apart the interior on my HLS3052689. I still have some things to do before it goes to a sandblaster. Just found several rusted places, it seems that I will have to cut out the original floor... And yeah, rust must die. :)

Not much has happened since I had it painted in January this year. Got a lot of parts lying around ready to go (mainly interior), but I am waiting for some seals to arrive from MSA so I can stop water getting in my car. I really have to take a few weeks off work so I can redo the front and rear suspension and start looking at getting the engine rebuilt.

Recently, I have also started helping out a mate who is running in the VRC (Victorian Rally Championship) this year. That has unfortunatly left me with little time on my weekends to work on the Zed.

Well, Feeling a bit inspired after reading the other post in this thread. Like others, time seem to be a major limiting factor in the Z project world. My project started about 3.5 years ago and I intend to finish it before September 2006. Status: Major rust repairs complete (floors replaced, door frames repaired/reskinned, hatch replaced, Sills repaired, Roof repaired above rear quarters, frame rails repaired/modified for large radiator), Body completed (G-nose installed and perfected, custom S/S bases installed in doors for sports mirrors, rear bumber "shaved" off, rear modified to suit a tight fitting 4" exhaust tip, body lead wiped/plastic filled, completely resprayed in Sting red (Holden), body spayed under neath with "body shultz"). The R32 RB20DET was installed using custom mounts to get it low and back in the engine bay and the gear stick lines up correctly. Intercooler and exhaust plumbing complete. Fuel/brake lines to do. Have ordered all wheel bearings, tie rods, ball joints, steering rack bellows, Tokico HP shock inserts and more from All Z parts. Should have it by the weekend and will hopefully be even more inspired to get this Z going, and fast I might add... Does anybody know a good RTA engineer to certify modifiations on the Sydney upper north shore?... I am going to need this after the law changed in february this year! Plan to "get back" and add pictures to my gallery to help others. Sorry about the length of this..... Michael
