I really think you are missing the boat here. I think that YOU think that US market is only interested in restoration, but that can't be further from the truth...We have been racing Z's, 510's, and Datsun Roadsters for almost 40 years. The parts you ask about are available from several US suppliers! listed above are three of the best...I think you need to re-evaluate your comments above.

So from my research, to effectively have a coilover setup on the '70 Z, I would have cut off a section of the strut tube and weld on the coilover's threaded sleeve and etc? Or I want to fork over about $4K for a complete built set like the ones beta motorsports sells?

What is the max drop of all the springs that are available if I dont want to go this route? Obviously I would need a new shock cartridge that can support the limited travel, any recommendations (Illumina or Bilsten?). How about spring rates for front and rear?

I will not track this car. Basically I want to work on the car's stance (eliminate the fender gap).

Illuminas worked well in my street car with a modest spring rate. To get the car as low as you are mentioning, a shortened housing is necessary, otherwise you will have no suspension travel in the front of the car. Adjustability is a good thing too...

Some of this depends on the wheels and tires you are running on the car as for how low you can set the car.

How much of a drop will Eibach or Tokico springs offer? I dont want to modify my struts since I would like to keep my series 1 as original as possible.

I'm running 205/70/15 tires? I can't remember.

Want to lower your car then don't get lowering springs get coil-overs and do it right the first time. Been there done that....oh, and my car now sits under 6 inches at the rockers and 3 inches off the ground at the oil pan.

If you are concerned about keeping your car original, do what I did and get a set of strut housings from the pick-n-pull to section and use on your car. When all was said and done, I have my original 4 struts that I could potentially bolt back onto my car.

You get to the point of no return when you cut the strut towers for certain camber plates.

My car is on sectioned struts with Illumina's and 225 fr/200 rr coil springs. I love it, and at Buttonwillow it was great fun
