Posted May 6, 200618 yr comment_166389 Hi guys!Im wondering on your opinions on getting a Z. First let me explain my situation.Im a student in Australia, with limited funds (i have quite a bit in the bank, but very low income). I had an imported Nissan Silvia turbo S13 as my first car which i sold (and made $1000 profit:) ) just before going to uni. I since got a cheap motorbike and have been using this for transport. After not having a car for over a year and a half, i deeply regret selling my car, which i really did love (spent 3 years reading up on them and doing nothing jsut to save for it and it was in mint condition!).So anyway, i am very passionate about cars and would like a classic Japanese car to have (i'd hardly be driving it). What im wondering is if the Z is a good car to choose or if at my current stage it would be more trouble than its worth? I notice most Z's go for about $2000AUD up to about $8000AUD for better condition ones. Because i dont want to spend to much money on it straight up, how are stock Z's to drive? I assume they were originally reliable, but i personally havent had an old car before. Do any of you regret getting one? do you need alot of money to keep one in decent running condition? I have considered a gtr replica, but it seems the 240K donor car is even rarer than Z's! I am also having trouble finding Z's for sale, most seem to be 2+2 which i really wouldnt want. My worst fear seems to be buying a rust bucket! especial after seeing mull's restoration videos!Basically, I WANT one, but its prob not the smartest choice.. do i follow my 'heart' or 'brain'(logic) ?Anyway i could go on forever about it but really jsut wondering if anyone can give any reasons as to justify getting one or not.Sorry to make my first post such a crap one, just im all mixed up on what to do!!??!!:disappoin ohwell thanks for any words or adviseEmil Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/19936-advise-on-getting-a-z/ Share on other sites
