  1. 1. Best "Buy Me" color

For many reasons I'm thinking of selling my Z when it's finished. Paint is about all I have to do before reassembly starts. The car is not stock so keeping the original color is not important and the car is prepped for a complete color change and has a black interior.

So what do you think would make the best "Buy Me" color?

I've put just the basic colors in as there are so many variations of each.

Lance,

that's a tough ? since it is so subjective. Everyone loves a red sports car and a classic like a 240 looks good red. But red is expensive to paint. I would stay away from the yellows which fewer people like. Lighter colors hide those body imperfections!!

I'm still tossing around the color question for my car. It was originally silver which works on Z's ,but I like blacking out the trim which changes the options on colors. It's red or silver for me with satin black trim.

By the way Lance, did you get my PM about the headlite bucket

Actually, I think that for a non-stock Z a good bright yellow (not either of the stock yellows) might not be a bad choice. These days many performance cars are coming in bright yellow. Ask Gary (beandip) to post a picture of his 240Z. His is very bright, I think it's a late-model Mustang color, or something like that.

I agree Dont paint it YELLOW. LOL When I picked my color I went to he PPG web site and they show a chart of the popular colors in the different countries. I was going to go with a dark purple/blue . I favor that color but I do want to be seen . Not to blend in mainly for safety concerns . Although my Car does get looks every where I drive it. LOL And I must say I don't mind that . Any way PPG's chart showed was yellow was high in popularity in Aus. and way down the list in the USA , and since it was my second choice this is the way I went. Since my car was painted , by Scanlon , yellow is seen plenty and I am not as unusual. hA ha , My advise is to look at similar shaped cars to the Z . And see how the color looks in the sunlight . Looking at a large sedan and liking the color then painting a small sports car the color will look much different. Flat panels vs. rounded curves and sharp edges our Z have . Especially when metallic is thrown in the mix. The BMW roadster has a great looking purple/lavender sort of gray that looks fantastic on a Z . When I said safety before, here in Oregon with the wet pavement much of the time , this color blends in to the pavement color. This is what I meant. My Z as Arne said is SCREAMING YELLOW , that's the name of it . It's a 2005 Cobra Mustang color. Otherwise known as ''ARREST ME YELLOW '' LOL Gary

If they get more than just ONE car at a show in Gary's color, they'll have to issue sunglasses at the gate...LOL

As far as being seen.....not blending in "for safety concerns".....that it definitely does. I think even the firemen with their yellow trucks notice this paint job.

And as far as Gary's "And I must say I don't mind that. " comment? Heck, all you have to do is mention how bright his car is and his waist drops 20", his chest puffs out like a bloated throat pigeon and the only thing missing is for him to be strutting around saying..."I'm bad! I'm bad!" ROFL

Ha Ha , yeah right ! But it is bright. Of course , not everyone has the same opinion . My , ''person who must be obeyed '', first comment was . " it looks like a CAB " . LOL

'DOH!

Look at your chrome, wheels and trim, and pick a color to compliment them, dark blue shows off perfect chrome better than any other color, but black is good too, if your bright work is in less than perfect condition, choose a color that will not highlight a contrast, but blend in.

The paint debate is killing me...what do I do!? I can't decide. I LOVE the blue on the Z that KATS has. Its a Nissan Skyline blue (check it out...beautiful). My car was originally orange, but the wife hates orange (I'd like her to go for a drive with me, but then again...), and the red its painted now (but its coming off while im restoring) actually looks good, but red is so cliche on a sporty car.

As far as a "buy-me" color, wouldnt the stock color be the one that would hold the most value?

Orignally I was not sure I would like the yellow on my Z, but, now that I have gotten used to it, I love it :classic: It is painted in plain old standard PPG yellow (see my gallery if you want to see more photos other than my avatar).
