  1. 1. Best "Buy Me" color

I'll say this, I painted my 71 Toyota Corolla a bright yellow while in Okinawa z(1976), and an American couple chased me down when they saw the for sale sign and bought the car on the side of highway one between Machiminata and Kadina. :-) DougN's color is outstanding on the Z.

So, that's my story and I'm stick'in to it.

So far the winner is Blue, which I wouldn't think would be the one. Red I figured would be #1, but sure isn't my favorite, and yellow (my choice) is far behind... You guys have helped in thinking about wheels and chrome (I have already powdercoated most of it satin black) and overall look. I'm still interested in hearing what everyone thinks but I'm still leaning towards Viper Yellow w/black stripes, blacked out chrome, and mag wheel centers (period ET wire wheel mags) powdercoated yellow to match.

Keep it coming, cause I'm still thinking the "resale red" thing ;)

BTW, the original color was '73 918? orange, then repainted to 73 corvette yellow by me back around 1980, so you can see I like yellow from a long time ago and always thought Z's looked great that way :) But with all that's been done to it I'd like it to be attractive to the new owner... but with out knowing who that is it's all guess work anyway....

There's a reason red is called resale red....it sells cars...especially sports cars! If your intention is selling the Z, forget about pleasing personal likes and go with a proven formula. Just my opion anyway! It worked on me when I was 32 years old...I bought a red Z LOL LOL LOL !!!

Ha! I'd just hate to think of painting it red and finding that the market wouldn't bear what I'd want to have to part with it and end up having to drive a red car :)

For resale, I'd skip the stripes. While many like them, many do not and so stripes might seriously reduce the size of the potential pool of buyers.

Good point Arne, see this is bringing out more points for me to think about! Thanks!!

If you think theres a chance you're gonna be stuck with the car..then paint it whatever you want!

If you'll only take a certain amount for it when it's done and you think you may NOT sell it...then you'll get that amount whatever color it is (if it sells), because you have already pre-determined what its worth.

If youre going to sell it for best dollar no matter what, then think about the resale colors.

:knockedou I have a selfish reason not to go with YELLOW. The more cars are painted yellow the less mine will stand out. ROFL As someone already said if there is a chance you are keeping the car , suite your self . Go with your favorite , I would hold off on the stripes though , as Arne said . There is a color that looks awesome, it's the gold metallic that is on the 350Z the ''golden toad''. It looks super on a classic Z body shape . :knockedou

Bah, orange is the way to go. It is the quintessential Z color. Whenever you see an old photo of a Z, it is orange. I was specifically looking for an orange Z. I wanted one that was originally orange, not repainted orange.

Why do you think Nissan came out with Le Mans sunset as the symbolic color for the 350z?
