Hey Z people! What is the best Z car radiator to put into a 240 Z? I have an L28 in there that puts out some pretty good heat. I've read some posts about putting 80's camero radiators in there but I'd rather put a Z radiator in. will a ZX radiator fit? Is the turbo radiator better? Any infor would be a great help.

Later Z and ZX radiators will fit, but they are deeper and hang down below the front valance a couple of inches. The sump and crossmember are lower still, but it would still be easier to damage than a regular 240Z unit. I have a ZX radiator in my 240Z (installed with an L28 by a previous owner), but don't like how it looks hanging down there and will be swapping back to a radiator designed for the 240Z later this summer.

The original 240Z radiator was only a 2 row core unit, but three row core units are fairly easy to find, and even four row are available if you need that much. For maximum cooling, aluminum radiators that fit properly are also available. My needs aren't too great (mild climate and mostly stock L24), so I will go with a three row core radiator in mine.

I have a Jim Davis aluminum radiator that works great, but I am looking for a stock type replacement that cools as good or better since copper is a better conductor than aluminum. I have used 4 core copper units from MSA but they don't cool as good as the Jim Davis unit.

I recently installed a radiator from a 280 and a Arne stated it extends below the lower support about 2" . What I am going to do is add a length of square thin wall square tubing about 2'' in size , and add it to the lower support . This will protect the lower tank and also give me a place to attach the leading edge of the dust shield , that covers the area in front of the engine . The 3 core does keep things cool , I have a ZX engine also. And so far it's great. My old two core unit that was a stock one kept he engine at normal temp , but the upper tank needed to be removed and re soldered at a cost that was the same as the ''new'' three core . So I went for the change . MSA has 3 core 240 radiators for $375.00 If you want to go that route .

Current price on MSA's website (which is more current than their catalog) is $234.95 for the 3 row #16-7001, which ships at the 30 pound rate. So add $18-30 shipping, depending on where you live.

But call your local radiator shops first, though. I found a local radiator shop who can sell me a 3 row for a 240Z for $212 and no shipping. Plus he'll test it for leaks before I pick it up at no extra charge, and it has a much better warranty than from MSA.

I have a 3 row 240 style copper radiator that I bought on ebay about 3 years ago and it works well but it has recently sprung a leak, so I was just wondering if anyone had any experiance with the camero radiator. I might just get my radiator fixed, I was just investigating options. I don't think I want the 2inches of over hang with the ZX radiator. Thanks for your input guys, It helps alot!
