Posted May 11, 200618 yr comment_167149 Take a look at these mirrors that came off a SI 240z I wrecked years ago. Both were fitted on the doors and have only holes to suit these mirrors, only other time Ive seen a pair was on another red SI 240. They have made in Japan on the base and are made of metal, do you guys think it came original? May 11, 200618 yr comment_167176 Definitely aftermarket. That's a pair of 'Napoleon Auto Mirrors' - early 1970s vintage. Illustrated top right in the mirrors section from this 1971 ad in a Japanese magazine: Alan T. May 11, 200618 yr comment_167202 I have something similar but not quite the same. Aside from a bad color match and the asymmetrical mounting by the PO, I like the look of them. May 11, 200618 yr comment_167205 1600 Yen, eh? I assume that was the price per each. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20009-series-i-240z-mirrors/#findComment-167205 Share on other sites
May 12, 200618 yr comment_167230 Those aftermarket parts are great! I didn't realise back in the 70s they were doing bonnet scoops in Japan. You don't really see that anymore... I guess most of the cars being modified like that didn't really survive. May 12, 200618 yr Author comment_167296 I love the look of bullet mirrors. Alan you have eagle eyes they are Napoleon mirrors, not sure if this would have been a dealer fitment or not it appears to be the only ones on the car.I have seen footage of Peter Brock racing his GTR XUI in the early '70's with this same mirror, I noticed the destinctive block pattern.
