Depressing turn of events...

The surprising part of the hood deal is that it was in stock at the dealership. Just have to pick it up or have it shipped. What e said for price is correct.

Looks like you got lucky. The fact that it was "in stock" was probably the key - you found one of the few pieces left sitting in back rooms. My Nissan dealer searched their database and came up empty ("back ordered"), which they take to normally mean "unavailable". Guess I'll be bringing my spare one back to life...

Mark, Sorry to hear about the crunch. I did the same thing with my 77. It got the headlight bucket and the hood on mine. I used a mid 80's Tbird to assist my crappy brakes. I PM'd you on the parts.

Thanks Skip. I have e-mailed you a response to your PM.

last time I was at the pick n pull in summit there was a 77 280 with all front end parts in good shape. Hood, heat light buckets, bumper, braces, fenders. from the doors back was tore up and the interior was shot and floors were non existant. Ill go check back and see if its still there. its about a two hour drive up from champaign. I could get some pics of the car and then pull the stuff off for you if you want. let me know

I have been told that many times about not having a part. And yet go talk to Jim with the part number and sure enough it is still out there. Lesson out there is ask by part number. Get the CD and it will pay off big time.

I always ask by part number. The Nissan Parts counter guys here in Champaign love me, since I always walk in with printouts of the fiche pages showing exactly the part and part numbers I want. They can then easily look up the superseded numbers. So that is what I did with the hood, with a negative result. Maybe there are other ways to search that they don't know about, but they've found some interesting stuff for me...

So do pic 'N pulls up there toward Chicago still have Z's in the yards? Around here, they just laugh at you...

If you can verify that the car is there, I may take a trip up - 2 hours North of Champaign is past I-80 into the Chicago burbs - what down is the yard in? edit <Oh - I didn't read. You said "summit", which I've never heard of - time to google!>

Thanks!

Very rarely will I see a beat up 280zx, but this is the first time I have ever seen a 280z around any yards up here. The pick n pull is in summit right off of I-55 & Harlem Ave. Ill go check there tomorrow and see if its still there and see how much they want for the stuff and get back to you.
