Posted May 14, 200618 yr comment_167468 I'm posting this here because it involves aust models. Is the 280zx the only model that has the normal conversion "80" module electric dizzy?I have heard 280c's and same r30's have the same but i wanted to make sure before i went wrecker hunting. My current 280zx dizzy has a stuffed vaccum advance unit and probably needs a rebuild anyways.. Is there any rebuild kits for these? Any ideas? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20041-electric-distributor-for-240z/ Share on other sites
May 14, 200618 yr comment_167474 My L26s vac advance unit is also stuffed.....so I'm also wondering if there's a rebuild kit available? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20041-electric-distributor-for-240z/#findComment-167474 Share on other sites
May 15, 200618 yr comment_167528 Whats to 'rebuild' on them? I'd be replacing the shaft bearings and getting the rest of the components tested and checked, if the bearings are ball type then any good bearing supplier should be able to help. Caps and rotors? Check with Nissan or your local auto parts supplier. May 15, 200618 yr comment_167531 There isn't a rebuild kit for the vac unit, either buy a new one or visit pinch-a-part. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20041-electric-distributor-for-240z/#findComment-167531 Share on other sites

May 15, 200618 yr comment_167558 My dizzy came from the skyline with the L24. Exactly the same thing. I just rung up the local wrecker and asked them for an electric dizzy for an L6.Go to supercheap and grab the bosch or ngk book and look up nissan. Look for listings that give the engine as L24E or L28E. May 17, 200618 yr Author comment_167767 i found a few today BUT all have stuffed vaccum advances..nissan wants $100 for the part..I did a few phone calls and it seems there isnt a aftermarket replacment..The $100 isnt the issue-- i just hate being ripped Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20041-electric-distributor-for-240z/#findComment-167767 Share on other sites
May 21, 200618 yr comment_168216 How do you test the vacuume advance unit - i have a spare electronic dizzy if someone wants it (offers)? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20041-electric-distributor-for-240z/#findComment-168216 Share on other sites
May 21, 200618 yr Author comment_168217 to test the vaccum advance, put a small length of vaccum hose on the dizzy advance unit and suck hard on the other end.. it will "give" a little but it shouldnt leak----if you can draw lots of air thru it its stuffedif you have the cap off you will also see the plate move, which advances the dizzy.
