Throttle Linkage

Mountain Gote

Recommended Posts

I had the same problem when I first bought "Precious". The PO was obviously a fool with a complete disregard for safety as he/she/they/them set up the carbies like so.

They weren't Z carbies. The linkage that runs horizontally across the firewall proved to be too long, causing a "tight spot" which, when the accelerator was depressed past the "tight spot", caused the car to LEAP forward.

Fitting a pair of Hitachi's and a shorter link fixed both problems.

Rick.

Matt the rod you are referring to is adjustable , normally the adjustment end is in the engine bay . There is a 3mm lock nut and then you can adjust it. Maybe this will help you . Also the part that fits on the spindle can be installed wrong also . It will fit two different ways . Have a look at this also. Just a thought. Gary:rambo:

Thanks, BeanDip,

I have adjusted the slop out of the linkage, which helped a LOT, but there is a small bind as I have described. I believe it's in the firewall spindle mount, since the rod has about 1/8 inch of play (the "bearing" hole is larger than the rod end). I need to find a new seat or bearing to keep it tight.
