Anyone have "genuine" Nissan weatherstripping?

I received my genuine weatherstripping from MSA and it has been glued together. It's glued in the corner - which I don't really care about, but it is glued again about half way down the longer piece where it would cross the dash near the upper door hinge. It looks like someone cut it by mistake, glued it back together with rubber cement about 10 years ago and then sent it back to the dealership. I called MSA, and after a little research they told me the other one they had in stock was also glued together and that is how it came from the factory.

Does anyone else out there have the genuine WS that has a seam in the middle?

Thanks, Z

I have a 73Z that has very good factory weatherstripping in it now. I looked and the corner is mitered (B piller) and a splice of 6 to 8 inches has been added, but hidden under the sill plate on each side. No other splices were found.

Hmmm... so this weatherstripping is from '73? Maybe Nissan just picked up all their short ends and glued them together to sell as replacement WS - LOL.

Hey there! Sorry if I'm drifting off topic a bit but I was wondering if anyone here can help me with the weatherstrips? I've been looking around and so far pricing has been going up and down. I can't really tell if these guys are giving the best prices for the complete weatherstrip. Does anyone know a good supplier that can ship to the Philippines? Thanks anyone :)

I'm sure anyone can ship to the Philippines once payment has cleared. Are you looking for "genuine" or aftermarket? If you haven't been following, do a search so you are aware of all the headaches associated with the different types of weatherstripping.

Almost everyone. So far MSA and Victoria British are my best bet yet. Other suppliers wouldn't even give me the time of day when I mentioned the Philippines. Well I guess business must be good for them.I've been looking at genuine ones only. Didn't know they had aftermarket? I could actually have it made here but that would probably be my last resort. Thanks THE73Z...

If they don't say genuine and cost a fortune then they are aftermarket. At MSA for example, they sell "reproduction" door WS for $35 vs $73 for "genuine." The big difference is fit.

I ordered the Nissan OEM weather strips - only with the Pinch Welt attached. The corner at the "B" pillar is mitered... and about six inches past the point at which the weather stripping turns down at the "A" pillar - there is a splice.

Along the threshold - the OEM parts have a couple of half moon cut outs, on the outside edge of the rubber seal..... but no splices.

I followed another thread on the door weather-stripping and the use of the term "genuine" left me wondering exactly what that meant...

Did your parts come in Nissan packaging? When MSA uses the term "genuine" does that really mean "genuine type".. or does it mean Nissan OEM parts?

FWIW,

Nissan bag, part number, etc.

Thanks for the info. Z
