Driving my Z 900miles....

Found that mine always runs better after a trip like you plan to make. If all the belts and hoses are good go for it . Does your car give you any over heating problems in the summer? If it does not go for it. The passes are no worse then the area you drive in now.

Sounds like your all set. I don't think that a car that you drive on a regular basis has any more chance of developing a problem on a long trip that during your regular driving. We just become concerned about the prospect of it happening so far from familiar ground. I've driven my 64 L320 to Arizona and back with no problems, I've driven the 810 to Solvang and back with no problems (exc. a speeding ticket!), and I've driven the Z to Oakland and back with no problems. If you're up on your maintainence, you'll be fine. Good luck!

Also, signing up for AAA or AAA Plus is not a bad idea either :-)

Now this is a good idea...Ive been pulled out of many jambs by AAA over the years...though funny never had to tow a broken down Z...always the wifes car, or my sons...but nice to have those free "tows" that come with the membership.

Again I'll mention proper tools to fix/replace any of the external parts on the

motor...metric sockets & wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers/vicegrips/sidecutters

duct tape & electrical tape too if your wiring is in questionable condition, perhaps a couple feet of wire as well...if thats the case.

carefully examine your fuel hoses for cracks (especially the small float bowl hoses under the carbs...) a fuel filter might be a good idea too. I got stuck once on the highway because of this but had a spare on board and was back on the road in 10 minutes.

If your Z is a daily driver now im sure youll be fine but it never hurts to be prepared on a long summertime drive like this.

well im off to drive my 60 miles to work :) in my Z...
