Backfire

I'm looking for suggestions. After my 240 has been driven and is then turned off, I get one loud gunshot out of the exhaust. It runs fine, doesn't seem to have any backpressure. I have recently tuned the car up (plat plugs, wires, points, condenser, rotor, coil, dist cap) and the timing is balls on.

It's just annoying and it frightens school children. Any ideas where to look?:stupid:

Thanks!

Or weak rings or a problem in the PCV system allowing fumes to enter the crankcase. I don't want to sound like and alarmist, it's just that I've experienced both of those personally. Take a compression check.

First off....a technical correction is in order! BACKFIRE = out the intake, AFTERFIRE = out the exhaust. Sounds like a rich condition to me! What color is your exhaust?

I agree with Tom. In my experience with SU's rich = diesel on shutoff and backfiring.
