Posted May 24, 200618 yr comment_168568 So I bought some headers of ebay that have quite a bit of surface rust, so my question is should I use some sanding discs that are for sanding parts like this or should I take them to a shop to be bead/sand blasted? If I used sanding discs what would the effect be on the metal if any? thx Ian:) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20164-what-should-i-use/ Share on other sites

May 24, 200618 yr comment_168590 You might consider sending them off to the following: http:// www.jet-hot.com In other words you can kill two birds with one stone so-to-speak...they will media blast them as part of the prep process to coat them with the jet-hot coating coating of your choice. Will last a long...long time after getting coated...make your engine compartment cooler too.....webdawg1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20164-what-should-i-use/#findComment-168590 Share on other sites
May 24, 200618 yr comment_168607 be careful if you are sanding or sand blasting . Headers are not that thick and you dont want to remove any metal. I scuffed mine off by hand with some 220 paper knocking off the roughness of the rust . Spayed some metal ready on it and sprayed them whit header paint. I have a little over 3K on them and they still look like I just painted them.
