Posted June 1, 200618 yr comment_169452 Just ordered water pump for my '74 260z, as mine needs replacing. Looks fairly simple. Anybody out there have any insight on replacing this? Any horror stories? Is it as easy as it looks? Thanks all! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20247-water-pump/ Share on other sites
June 1, 200618 yr comment_169454 I've done this and its not that hard of an operation, the only problem I had was getting the fan out from inbetween the motor and the fan shroud. You may not need to take the fan out though, I only took it out to check out the fan clutch. Good Luck =) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20247-water-pump/#findComment-169454 Share on other sites
June 1, 200618 yr comment_169456 Be careful when you take out the bolts because if they break off in the block, like one did for me, you gotta take off the timing cover to remove it. Oh yeah and if this does happens don't use an "easy out" tool because if it breaks off, like it did for me:stupid: , it's a pain in the arse to get it out. Other than that it's an easy job, one day tops Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20247-water-pump/#findComment-169456 Share on other sites
June 1, 200618 yr comment_169465 I removed the radiator. It's just easier that way. Plus I replaced belts and hoses also. The job only took about four hours. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20247-water-pump/#findComment-169465 Share on other sites
