Canon EOS 20D vs, 30D

I am a professional photographer and I have the 20D, I also have the 5D because I wanted the the larger sensor. If I were to replace my 20D I would get the 30D. It is newer technology and the larger lcd on the back is great. I would get the 17 - 85 IS lens. I have that one and it never comes off the 20D I have.

I haven't checked the websites yet, but what are some other differences between the 20/30D or even the 5D and the 400D? I have been considering the 400D from a price perspective and number of pixels. What other than fps should be considered here? I plan to use a zoom lense for pics of the kids while they play soccer, bball, etc.

For what it is worth, I recently purchased a 20D and love it. Money was a big issue for me and I was able to find a flawless used camera and lens for about 550-600. If you have the money I would probably purchase the 30D but you can't go wrong either way. Carl

Enigma, Check out this site. This is my buddy who has had both (thought the 20D would be the end-all, but ended up with the 30D shortly thereafter.) His gallery shows pics taken with both and if you contact him, I am sure he would be happy to give you the straight up on both.

I went with the Nikon D80 when I was shopping for DSLRs. It's been my experience that larger LCD's generally just translate into reduced battery life, but not having direct experience with either of those two cameras, I couldn't tell you that would be a given. Are you starting from scratch with a DSLR, or will compatibility with your existing hardware be a factor? I was starting from scratch, so it didn't matter to me, but if I had a bunch of money tied up in lenses and accessories, I would probably have gone with something that would work with all that stuff.

I have been doing research about EOS 30D. I found a site that lists all expert reviews about it in which most are positive. You can compare what the experts are saying and I hope you can learn a lot from them which would make your decision a lot easier. Here's the link:

Guys, thanks for all the advice, I'm sure it will help somebody, but I made a purchase decision almost a year ago and went with the 30D w/17-85 IS USM lens. I've been very happy with it and took over 1500 picture on my trip to Europe. I hope to post them on my site some day when I have time to go through them.
