1977 console with slot for a choke lever?

If I am going for an original look I would turn down the slot edition. I would only use the counsole with the slot if there were no other options. To each his own. Out for the weekend.....have a sunny one:classic:

it seems to me that sblake01, and gator are saying that the console with a choke lever slot covered by a blanking plate IS the "original look" part since that p/n is listed for production beginning 8/76, thus for 77 and 78 model s30's in the USA.

am i understanding you guys right?

That's what I'm saying. I bought the car from the guy that originally bought it from Ontario Datsun in 1977 and neither he nor I have changed the console.

I have had a hard time getting the cables set up properly though. O think my return springs on the crarb is to blame. It seems to me the cable does not pull the cable far enough.

Question for you 240 owners... do you need to operate the choke when starting your car when cold in the summertime?

Bruce,

I usually have to use the choke in the morning. Only not if it is hot outside. 90+ degrees. Doesn't stay on for very long. As soon as it revs up to about 2000 RPM, off it goes. Car runs very well. Hope this is helpful.

Bruce;

The other thing to check on your carbs for your choke set up not operating smoothly is the fuel lines from the float bowl to the bottom of the carbs. If they are to stiff you get what you are describing. Replace them with hoses from either Nissan or Z therapy and this stiffness will go away the springs can not over come the drag of the stiff hoses.

Well I think both are the correct answers. Yes some came from the factory with the slot capped off and some came solid without it too because my 1977 280Z is Stock & original and mine does NOT have this slot your talking about. Mine is all solid and smooth there. No slot with a plastis cap. Apparently Datsun must have used both :ermm:
