Rear disk brake conversion.

Im looking to change my rear drum brakes to disk. I would like to have suggestions of which ones are best. Im interested in a simple conversion, does not require large modifications and is inexpensive (less than $500). Does it exist?

If you do a search on that, I think there was a cheaper way that involved using a bracket from a Maxima. There was a write up somewhere that listed all the parts needed with Nissan part numbers.

Go with the MM brackets and E-brake extensions. Pick up rotors and calipers (if only for cores) at the PNP. You'll also need brake lines. There are extension write-ups regarding this over at www.hybridz.org under the brakes/wheels/suspensions/chassis section. The very first sticky will be a big help to you.

The Maxima brackets are NLA as far as I know. If you can find a set you'll be very lucky and still spend $$.

You'll end up spending that $500 and maybe more/less. It depends on how creative you are and the quality of the junkyard parts.

The Caliper brackets are still available-as of 5pm today for about $70 each depending on the Nissan dealer, part# 44155-04S10.

Use car-parts.com to find the used parts(I found and bought a very recent pair of the calipers for $40 that were local to me that way) I bought new rotors from RockAuto for about $80. As EZZZZZZZ says, the price depends on how much work you are willing to do to save money, and how lucky you are in your search...

I bought a set on ZCar.com back in the Summer (year ago) with 240SX calipers for 100.00 shipped. I just found a set a few months ago attached to the Maxima I was pulling an LD280 crank out of. It is just a matter of luck when looking, but check every Maxima 81-84.

Look for the large head bolts on the ends of the axle tube (4) behind the rotors. If Phillips head screws (holding the backing plate), then a welded unit. By the way, save the bolts, otherwise you will have to scrounge the appropriate fasteners (a slightly different length, than commonly available at Ace or Lowes).
