Posted June 8, 200618 yr comment_170361 I know this is a tough item to find, but any ideas where I can get one? Mine is missing the lid and is cracked, which doesn't look good with my new console! Any thoughts? Thanks! Stephen Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20337-replacing-series-1-ashtray/ Share on other sites

June 8, 200618 yr Author comment_170371 I keep my eye on Ebay, but they appear very infrequently! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20337-replacing-series-1-ashtray/#findComment-170371 Share on other sites
June 8, 200618 yr comment_170373 Stephen, Nice to see another low number 70 Z car guy! I wish you luck on trying to find the correct ashtray......I gave up my search as I never ran across one in over five years. Mine has a small piece of the right hand lower corner lip broken off. I live with it however....not too visible unless you really look close. Good luck though!Tom Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20337-replacing-series-1-ashtray/#findComment-170373 Share on other sites
June 8, 200618 yr comment_170376 My ashtray/fuse-cover is broken in several pieces, but since I have them all I can wedge them all in and it doesn't look too bad from 10 feet. (But don't touch it or it falls to pieces!) But eventually I'll need one as well. Add these early ashtrays to the list of parts I'd like to see reproduced. The other part high on that list is the chrome center trim strip for the taillights. June 8, 200618 yr Author comment_170379 Yes, Arne, this would be a high-demand repro piece! I am open to looking at other ashtrays that fit at this point. So, if anyone has a nice quality later-model Z ashtray they would like to sell, I would like to talk to you! Thanks! June 8, 200618 yr comment_170431 Your best bet on finding a early series I ashtray is going to be Ebay, Yes they don't show up very often, but they do appear evey now and than... Be prepared to pay a vey high premium for a non cracked good condition replacement.I picked mine up on Ebay... and ended up paying about 125.00... but when you gotta have it... what are you gonna do? June 9, 200618 yr comment_170446 Yes, Arne, this would be a high-demand repro piece! Thanks! In reality, there isn't a call for a great number of these, they only fit a small number of the Zs currently on the road, and there are at least three variations to choose from ( http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20840&highlight=series+ashtray ) As soon as I get caught up with what life has thrown my way, I will be reproducing the earliest versions of the finest series one parts I have.. I think the demand is small, but the desire for an indistinguishable reproduction is great. Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20337-replacing-series-1-ashtray/#findComment-170446 Share on other sites
June 9, 200618 yr comment_170448 I paid 75 for mine 2 years ago, I thought that was a lot at the time, guess not. I take mine out ing the winter months (6 months) and store it in a nice soft warm place. The cold cannot be good for them, Montana cold that is. June 9, 200618 yr Author comment_170469 Anyone have an early ashtray lid or cover they would like to part with? My basic ashtray is fair but I am missing the lid (broke off) and replacing that would at least make it bearable. Thanks,Stephen Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20337-replacing-series-1-ashtray/#findComment-170469 Share on other sites
