Hey everyone,

I've got a quick question. What do you think about the right column (or bar) on the main page? Does it clutter and make the main page too busy? Should we keep it or get rid of it?

If you want to see what it would look like WITHOUT the right column, take a look at the following link: http://www.classiczcars.com/modules.php?name=CZCC_Home

My goal is to help clean up the main page and put things inside the website. Of course, by doing this, I need to make everything easily accessible and that will come with time. For now, I simply need to know what you think about killing the right column.

Hi Mike! To be honest I never used it but if you DO take it out, your page layout might bank to much to the right. I like the layout now and I suggest you keep the polls. Its one of the best ways for everyone to be interactive with one another. The who's online section and joefarnarkler mentioned that the active threads weren't on the sample page? One of the best features of the site. On the recent links segment, maybe you can use the Z photos within the site and create a flash slideshow for some animation on the site?

I really like to see who's online. Besides that it would really clean the front page up to lose that column. I would like to see who's birthday it is, but with it being at the very bottom of the page...out of sight, out of mind.

Leave it there, but make it a user option in the user cp not to display it. Then the people that dont like it can get rid of it, and the people that like it can leave it there. Requires a bit of programming work to do. Maybe the vBulletin people could do the work. Submit a bug report/feature request.

Looks a bit weird without it.

Yea, I'm working on a new look for the site. I like the idea of a clean front page and giving everyone links to the various other parts of the site. Since our main page gets hit the most, I'm trying to minimize the database queries so we can speed up the server response. Of course I could simply throw more memory and CPU at it. :) But, that's gonna cost $.

I've always liked the looks of a simple front page that contains various small pieces of every part of our club. For instance, little blocks and links that bring you to different parts of the site. I'll be messing around with this for the next several months and keep you guys posted.

The front page is suffering from information overload. Serioulsy, theres too much on there 90% of which I ignore.

Heres some things that appear in the side bars on the homepage and other pages:

Home page:

A calandar: I know what date it is already. My PC tells me.

Events (twice): In both left and right columns. Incase we miss the first one eh?

Polls: I almost never read them.

Racing News and Mini Stats; I couldn't care less.

On the Forum pages theres a box called:

System Messages: from 2004!!!???
