toecutter Posted June 12, 2006 Share #1 Posted June 12, 2006 Well I finally found some time to install new bearings and rotors. After spending much time thinking about upgrades I settled for solid slotted and cross drilled rotors. Some considered options were changing calipers to someting like Z32 calipers but thought it to be too much work at the moment. The wieght issues of the 4x4 Hilux brakes concerned me. Vented discs would be nice but since it's not a track car probably not that beneficial. So I decided I wanted something that would improve my stopping power when needed occasioanlly and look nice through the wheels. The DBA rotors I got do this and look good I reckon. Pics attached. They costed me AUD$320.00. Still gotta do the rear upgrade! Cheers Sulio
blue_leaf Posted June 12, 2006 Share #2 Posted June 12, 2006 Nice, what diameter is the new rotor? Is that a stock 2-pot I see there? What are you running at rear atm?
toecutter Posted June 12, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted June 12, 2006 Stock calipers with stock size rotors. Rear is still stock, hoping to upgrade to R30/31 sjyline rears when I get a spare weekend.
=Enigma= Posted June 14, 2006 Share #4 Posted June 14, 2006 Those are some sweet looking rims. What kind/type/size are they?
toecutter Posted June 14, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted June 14, 2006 ROH (Venturi from memory), 17x8.5 front and 17x9.5 rears. They make custom 3 piece wheels to suit any offset.
d3c0y z3d Posted June 20, 2006 Share #6 Posted June 20, 2006 I'd still deffinately go the hilux calipers - there isn't much difference in weight and the stopping power difference is huge !
toecutter Posted June 21, 2006 Author Share #7 Posted June 21, 2006 Yer I still might go down that track. Has anybody got a weight difference on stock calipers and the 4x4 calipers?
d3c0y z3d Posted June 21, 2006 Share #8 Posted June 21, 2006 when i swapped mine over i made a little in hand comparison and there was bugger all difference - not enough to warrant not having them!!
