Datsun 120A Cherry Coupe

Just stumbled across this rare beast. While I realise it won't be everyone's cup of tea (I know it's not really mine) I do take an interest in it.

I've seen these in race trim before and they scrub up alright. I'd be interested to know if they did alright. I believe it's FWD something of an oddity for the era for Datsun anyway.

How come We never got those here? Datsun imported every thing they had to you blokes, but hardly nothing to us? Thats wack

I beleive you can thank Mr. Nader and the US Goverments efforts to keep idiots in the gene pool for this...

We did get that car, in the mini wagon format. I had one. tough little S.O.B. I used it as a jeep in the cypress woods of South Fla.

Sold as the F10 , Guess Nissan thought Americans wouldn't go for the "Cherry" name.

My buddy had one of the "F-something" Datsun Coupes. It looked a little bit like the car that started this thread except it had more glass. It was a total "piece", its final day came one day when he was taking a turn and the axle came out leaving him riding on the ground....it was scarey at the time but now we look back and laugh it. The car in down under looks like parts car at best to me.

Please note that the one Gavin posted is the earlier model (KE10 Cherry), rather than the later F10 Cherry.

I think they are fantastic! Kind of like a miniature C110, if you squint hard enough. I believe Alan has some photos of the racing version X1 in his gallery -in the Nissan Museum I think.

Very weird to see it pop up in a yard in Australia though! I wonder how much he wants for it. It sure needs a fair bit of panelbeating........

Very rare in AUS. From what i can gather they arnt too uncommon in Europe.

there is one (best looking of them all if thats possible) just around the corner from me. Its been sitting, out in the weather, for years with no cover! Its a shame really, such a rare car over here just wasting away... he owns a 140Z in the same state! he is loking at selling them though to a better home. the cherry is posibly reparable the 140Z is a goner!

It had a A series East West mounted... i think of it as a FWD 120Y(B210)
