September 8, 200420 yr comment_94387 Stick an 5 or 6mm allan key in one of the bellhousing bolt holes and spin it clockwise until it hits the ring gear.Locks it up nicely.Interesting idea. I'll have to try that next time. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/2043-flywheel-bolts/?&page=2#findComment-94387 Share on other sites
September 8, 200420 yr comment_94394 Lots of great replys , I broke two sockets the last time . I ended up using a impact socket with a brakeover bar . Gary they were not quality sockets. October 6, 200420 yr comment_97524 I just simply used the what, 19mm wrench, put it on, and then put a long I think 24mm wrench on the end of the 19mm wrench (the closed end of the 24 on the open end of the 19), so it was like 2.5 feet long, and the torque from how long it is broke them loose, with only the spark plugs in causing resistance....I tightened them with a long socket/rachet on the front however....would probably use one of these good ideas for tightening!Have a Z ful good day everyone! October 7, 200420 yr comment_97571 I used a flat blade bit from an impact driver wedged between one of the top bellhousing bolts and the teeth on the ring gear. Piece of cake.Andrew Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/2043-flywheel-bolts/?&page=2#findComment-97571 Share on other sites
March 19, 201411 yr comment_443710 Got my flywheel bolts off using the engine hoist bracket to lock the flywheel in place. I guess installation will be the reversal on the other side. I'm kind of going at a leisurely pace, but yeah, the z needs to get back on the road in a hurry. How's the twice pipes working out for you? Just living with the leaks until I get them welded up. They're not quite as loud as my old twice pipes (good thing).BTW, I love your flywheel holding tool.
