Primered it!

Hey everybody. I primered my car a few weeks ago, didn't get around to taking pictures, and the ones I have are only from the rear and part of the driver's side.

The first picture is of my shaved antenna and rear quarter emblems, and the second picture is just the back.

Sweet! I am thinking about trying to do a bit of body work in preparation for the paint shop. I have never done any body work, but wanted to give it a shot. I just want to paint the exterior to make it look nice and get rid of a bit of the surface rust until I get up enough guts and have the time to do more of a restore. Is this something that can be learned or is it not recommended? I know I can sand etc, but have never worked with any body putty etc. This would be so simply fill the tiny door dings, etc.

Tx,

Bill

You can do it. It just takes patience and attention to detail. Read up on the proper techniques and then jumpt right in. I had never done any body work before and just went for it, I started welding up holes and using body solder. The small dents & dings I have used the solder on came out very nice. This is an area where you can always improve your results by sanding and re-applying if you aren't happy with the first effort.

Anything that you can cut and don't have to use filler just cut it off, and buy the body part at VB MS etc.

I agree, take advantage of the fact that their are companies that supply body parts for the Z. I have a 510, finding body parts for it is a real pain. I needed two new quarters and a taillight panel so I bought a new car. Good luck with your future projects.
