Skyline 2000 GT : Blue (gearknob blue)

Skyline 2000 GT-E : Blue (gearknob blue)

Skyline 2000 GT-X : Gold (gearknob gold)

Skyline 2000 GT-X-E : Gold (gearknob gold)

Skyline 2000 GT-X-E-S : Green (gearknob green)

Skyline 2000 GT-R : Red (gearknob red)

Datsun 240K GT: Blue (4-speed gearknob black, 5-speed blue)

Datsun 240K GL: Reddish Orange (4-speed blue, 5-speed blue)

But here's the best part. The GTX-E-S came with a brushed aluminium guage panel and centre console inserts. A la GT-R.

The above information is very fragile. It's not based on fact, just what I've seen in brochures, pictures etc. I do not intend to offer it as gospel truth!!!

The C110 Skyline is an interesting beast. To my knowledge, two were made in racing spec by Nissan. These are commonly referred to as the "Image Cars". Image, because they were never entered into any race! The reason for this was the oil crisis of the 70s. Car racing in general suffered...

Has anyone ever seen one of the kpgc110 image cars running at fisco for the nissan festival? i haven't!

I hope soon to have the story and pics from a gentleman who owns an vintage 240K 2dr race car (who prefers not to post the details himself).

yes you are right, when i bought that car, something was wrong with it and i couldn't exactly say what it was... it wasn't until i took the tail lights off for cleaning that i realised that they were JDM spec ones.. not GT-R as the plastic/chrome surround is different (4 spoke rather than 1billion spoke)

of course i quickly snapped them up and swapped them for my aussie spec ones.. so no.. the car no longer has the JDM tail lights

Left is standard combination and surround for KGC110 GT series.

Right is combination for KPGC110 (GT-R)

Australian delivered cars had the standard GT lights from the attached pic with the lenses of the combination closest to the centre of the car reversed. Outer ring is a clear reversing light and inner red lense is a brake light. The coupes had a larger outboard lense bezel than the sedans, so the rear panel of a coupe will have larger holes for the outboard lights than a sedan. I think the sedan rear panel has four holes of equal size.

Thanks Jim, I would like to expand on that a bit if I may.

There are four kinds of tail lights for the C110.

1. Export specification "240K" lights (note that the outer lights are different to domestic lights as well as the inners)

2. Domestic "Skyline" lights - ie the "hotplates"

3. Short wheel base sedan "Skyline" lights.

4. Van "Skyline" lights.

Now as has been mentioned, there are also a combination of ways these lights were shown on cars.

1. Chromed plastic outer ring surrounds - for all Hardtop C110 models except GT-R.

2. Plain chromed plastic outer ring surrounds - for GT-R only.

The light units themselves are the same, and these rings screw on. The beaver panels are different for the sedan and hardtop models to allow for this extra ring. As Tom found out, they are NOT interchangeable without modification. All GC110 Hardtop models had a small stainless steel trim piece around the hole on the beaver panel, around the inner light. Sedans had this same trim on all four holes, and the GT-R had no trim.
