how to kill the ghost of bad luck?:(

Could be that the name issue is the root of your problems-your z is having an identity crisis and is crying out for help the only way in knows how, through your wallet.

You are ultimately responsible for the Naming of Your Car, not the Previous Owner. If you want to use a female name, go for it. The important thing is to choose a name that is fitting and appropriate. (el crappo would be wrong, just wrong)

The name that popped up in my mind after reading "el prince" and looking at your avatar is "Reina"-Spanish for Princess-not a far stretch from the PO name. Maybe others will offer name suggestions, just choose what seems right to you.

Enrique is right, the car knows how much money you have, and it is measuring your value of it. Once the car is comfortable with how much you value it, the money test will dissapear-unless your significant other situation changes-then it will start again unless the car becomes the siginifant other.

If the car gets worried another love interest is getting in the way, repair bills will get as high as dependability will get low. There are a couple of threads on this phemomenon, so I would reproduce them here, but it sufices to say Enrique is right, when a Z guestions its worth to its owner it becomes a high maintenance woman!

Will

Datsuns are not the only Japanese car to have the money sensor, nor are they the only jealous lovers.

Mitsubishis are as well.

Since I got the ZX in January, I've been driving her, except for snow days.

That's when the Montero came out to play.

All summer long, the Mitsubtchi has sat, being drivin occasionally, just to keep her fresh.

As soon as the ZX pulled its braking weirdness, I started driving the Mitsu. Now it's the Mitsu's turn to tell me how angry she is that there is another woman.

She had started overheating, so I thought the radiator needed flushing-I tried it, no help. My mechanic tried flushing it (I thought they had different, specialized equipment, ok?) to no effect, and he suggested that it needed rodding-call a radiator shop.

I finally found a radiator shop less than an hour away, drove there today (overheating all the way) and found out that the shop (one guy) can't rod it (it's plastic, you see). He did power purge it, though, and found that the rad is fine, but the water pump is gone.

He can't work on it because it is sync'd with the timing belt.

The timing belt needs to be changed as well.

The parts alone are about 500 bucks.

And the ZX is making me very nervous.

Before anyone asks...my wife's car (the BMW) is in Florida, so is she...long story. Short story-she was offered a great position, I am stuck in school (again).

Both cars have money sensors, and they are both fighting for every last cent.

I always thought a threesome would be nice, one for hot times, one for cooler times, but they seem to either hate each other, or they are working together to drive me mad.:finger:

I think the only way to solve the problem is to sell one, and be a one car man.

Anyone want to buy a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero LTD (not Sport!).LOL

I do love Japanese cars, they are so reliable, even the older ones.

But when they break down...

I know all about BMW part replacement, unfortunately. Tell me your BMW price stories, I'll tell you mine, and you will cry. Just don't tell my wife that I posted this photo, she will kill me.

My wife has only one car, Frankie (aptly named after the accident), and therefore doesn't have to deal with jealousy issues.

The Datto has been very nice to me, once I got the new shocks and tires on, basic tune up, and the like. Now it's brake time, while the Mitsu thinks it's break time. They are both fighting for attention, it seems.

I love them both, so I'll do my best by both, what else can you do?

I think they have gotten wise to the wallet issue, now they read the bank statements in the time it takes to drive home from the Post Office.

This photo should serve as warning to anyone who drives (at any speed) on narrow twisties. She encountered a pickup truck w/ boat trailer taking ALL the road. Defensive maneuver overcompensated on gravel patch, strait down 30 ft drop, into tree.

She was fine, shooken up, but unharmed, thankfully (that's her in the pink sweater). Insurance took care of the car (this happened a couple years ago), but it took over a month to get back. Since then, no problems. Maybe the Ghost of Bad Luck was exorcised from Frankie and took up residence in the Mitsu. Any issue I have with the ZX is age related or PO inspired, bit a newish vehicle has no excuse.

BuDavid,

The ZX has no problem with the M, my baby knows who has my heart (and most of my wallet). The M may be a wealthy opponent, but wealth does not equate CLASS and PERSONALITY.

Thinking about your ghost: Your lady doesn't seem to be haunted this time.

I think she is just upset about being left alone for a month. She was thinking that you were having an affair, and she feels a little insecure.

Anyway, great to hear from you-your boss is making you work too much!

David,

I hope that you are right about the stupid ghost;) coz when I finish installing the springs, shocks and rims I'll put her picture in a Magazine! yes, my cousin called me and asked me if I agree putting her pic in a new magazine! so I'll prepare her make up and I'm ordering headlight covers to be as much sexy as she can be;)

I might post scanned photos from the magazine.. BUT after a long time I guess:s
