rubber bushing/urethane bushing

Believe it or not...You can still buy a lot of this stuff (OEM parts) from the dealership near you...As long as you have a good part number to work with, they can usually tell you within just a couple of minutes as to if it is NLA (No Longer Available) or not. They usually know somebody, that knows somebody, that knows somebody...that can get you your part. Good source for local stuff too...If it's NLA then check eBay almost every day and you'll be amazed as to what turns up from time to time......lots of stuff still in the OEM bag...etc...etc

Keep in mind one thing about urethane, it will put more stress on those already weak and internally rusted or prior repaired frame sections, I know it first hand, 1536 has all off its mounts twisted or pulled out from the steel heim joints i used on it with the urethane bushings, konis and mulholland springs. The rubber is just easier on the car and the sacrifice is minimal in performance.

thanks for following up, but control arm bushing is considered "horizontally loaded" or vertically loaded? coz it is under turning motion isn't it?

I considered using rubber bushing for mustashe bar mounting for sure! what I'm not sure of is using urethane for control arm bushings.. coz the control also the camber angle and since urethane is durable then it (might) be better than rubber there!

correct me if I'm wrong plz!

I used urethan for the tension rod. I'm not shure if that's the reason but I have a little twist in the frame now, the "pocket" turned slightly upways. I will go for rubber in combination with the performance TC rod kit,

but at first I loosened the nuts. Similar experiances?

I am going to use urethane for the TC rod, but my car is on a rotisserie, and everything rusty or tweaked has been replaced. One good thing about it, most of the bushings(except those in the spindle pin area are easy and fairly quick to change out if you choose wrong.

I liked my Z with rubber and now I love it with urethane. I changed everything to urethane and put in HPs as replacement shocks. My steering is 300% better, the car is on rails and it isn't too bad for a drive. In this neck of the woods the roads are fairly bad, lots of patches and pot holes, no complaints from me.

I've only put about 200 miles on it since the overhaul, but it's the best drive I ever had.

Don't be confused! Try what you believe you want, then replace as necessary-if you start with urethane, selling the slightly used pieces can be done, but I have never seen used rubber bushings actually sell.
