Posted June 29, 200618 yr comment_172733 Hi all,I got a set of steel brakelines together with the '72 Z when I bought her. One pair is about an inch longer than the other pair and even the shorter pair is longer than the original brakelines. Which one is for the front ?Rolf Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20596-brake-lines/ Share on other sites
June 29, 200618 yr comment_172739 Rolf, Just to clarify, are these the braided hoses, or the rigid pipes that are mounted to the car body? If these are the braided hoses, I think the longer ones go on the rear. My reasoning- the front mounting points for the flexi pipes (to the car) are basiclly just behind the front struts, while the rears are in front of the struts and futher away. The flexi pipes at the rear have to be a longer length, as they are futher forward. Also, the flexi mounting points fit about a 1/3 up the strut, while the rears have to go all the way down to the hub. This is probably long winded but I've tried.....CheersIan Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20596-brake-lines/#findComment-172739 Share on other sites
June 29, 200618 yr Author comment_172741 Thanks Rip260Z (Ian)you are right, I write about the braided hoses. At first I argued like you but than I saw that by turning the steering the distance between the fixing points becomes wider or very narrow and the wheels also have to move up and down at the same time when driving. That made me sceptic, so I asked my question.Rolf Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20596-brake-lines/#findComment-172741 Share on other sites
