I Fissed it

Yay me, I fissed my AC. Tracked down about 100 miles of vacuum hose, fittings and electrical. Disassembled the dash, glove box, etc. Pulled the blower(it blows real hard, which is good), and managed to find the tiny vacuum leak that was causing my woes.

Reassembled everything. AC blows cold. Defroster blows. Heat blows. (all of these things did not work before). But, they are all mixed up. AC makes the defroster blow, defroster makes AC go, etc. I remembered pulling out a part of the vacuum selector thingy (the part that gets actuated when selecting ac, def, etc) and it was geared. Which I immediately turned, and forgot about.

AS I was disassembling hte dash, etc again, I was muttering to myself how it was stupid of Datsun to not put a key or some kind of marking on it so stupid things like this didn't happen. I was also pondering how difficult it would be to trial and error this thing to get it right.

That is when I pulled it out again, and saw the two markings, clearly visible, that need to be lined up. Did that, reassembled, and viola! Everythign fissed.

Yay me.

LOL

Sounds like a fun time under the dash. Glad you got it sorted.

My car HAD A/C, but it's pretty much all in a box now. I'm not interested in fixing it simply because the car desn't get enough use (hence the fact that it's sitting with locked rear brakes), but it's excellent that you got yours running.
