Mine crumbled away recently. Can you get these anywhere? I looked in the BD and MSA catalogs, but haven't called them yet. I'm afraid that if I drive in the rain, the pressure in the wheelwells will spray water onto whatever is next to the hole, like the alternator or AFM.

You may have more success looking for a suitable replacement from a Electronics store.

I found grommets for the firewall in Tandy many years ago, a lot cheaper to!

It's not really a grommet. Those you can probably get from a hardware or electronics catalog. It's a grommet with a rubber elbow. Grommet was the only word I can think of.

They didn't exist in the earlier models, my parts catologue doesn't show it, neither has my 240 got one!

However, my 260 has. Perhaps you can find one on a parts cars or look for a later model catologue

Maybe a grommet would be enough, if it closed up the hole enough, and possibly with a section of bicycle inner tube for the elbow part. You just have to cut it to hget the headlamp wires through.

A grommet with some silicone sealer might do the trick. Or else, get a body plug and cut a hole in the size you need.

I was going to suggest asking your Nissan dealer. Good thinking! If they show it as NLA, don't give up. Contact a Canadian Nissan dealer and they may be able to still order it. Seems pretty common that the US has obsoleted parts that Japan still has available. FWIW.

You might try Lowes or Ace Hardware in the electrical section. You'll be looking for P/N: GHG-1538 by GB (Gardner Bender) About $1.69 or so...5 grommets to the package. My plan is to use several long pieces of heavy duty shrinkable tubing to go over the wires and then seal them up where they go thru the grommet.

Ok, but how do you plan to get the headlamp connector through that little hole and through the heatshrink?

You'll be taking all three wires out of the connector. Made myself several pictures for reference purposes of the headlight connector as to where each wire goes in relation to the connector. In other words, if you had the bare headlight bulb in your left hand and you had the connector in you right hand with the wires attached, just connect the two and make note as to where each wire is going. You'll need to cut apart/seperate the wires inside the metal bulb housing as they are bonded together three across. That way when you feed them back thru the new grommet one at a time to connect them back into the connector it should not be a problem. You can use the pictures as a reference source and put the color codes for each wire in it's correct place/location. (Before you tear it apart of course....)

Take your car or the part to the Nissan Dealer and show it to them. I believe that it's a common part and not specific to your car. I know you said yours crumbled away, but that's only 1, you still have the other side. It's probably called a "gasket" or a "grommet"
