Posted July 12, 200618 yr comment_174282 Has anyone used Dashboard Restorations to repair/restore their dash? They are in Washington and I am planning on sending my dash to them this fall. They also can do the center console. What do people think of the dash covers that you can purchase and glue over the top? The full caps are okay, or at least more discreet. The feel is just wrong, but the look is good except, occasionally, in the center area around the heater controls.I will want to hear if you use the restoration place. Please send me a PM with details if you don't care to speak openly. July 12, 200618 yr comment_174291 HLS30.com has used their service. PM him.I got a quote from them and decided that I needed some other parts before I redid the dash. I am going to put a carpet cover over it for now and will get the dash restored later. Too, many things in front of this right now. July 12, 200618 yr comment_174327 The restored my roadster dash and it looks excellent. I am very pleased with the appearance and quality. I cannot vouch for the fitment because my car is still body-off-frame, but I don't see what it wouldn't fit. July 12, 200618 yr comment_174364 Dashboard Restorations did a dash for me and I am very satisfied. I think they are a sponsor of this site. We did a group deal a couple of years ago. I don't think I heard any complaints. Have them fit the gauges and vents for you. The cost of shipping is in the size of the box, not the weight. You and I had ours done in Australia by Dashboard Restorations, not the Washington state operation. I believe they were once affiliated but are no longer. July 13, 200618 yr Author comment_174377 How much did it cost? I wonder if it is worth it to send the dash to Australia based on what I have heard about the Washington company? July 13, 200618 yr comment_174379 We did it before the domestic location opened. At the time it was well worth it because other options were even more expensive. EricB did a lot of work arranging the shipping for us out of LA. Shipping them in a group was less expensive than it would be to send just one at a time. July 13, 200618 yr comment_174422 There is a great deal of detail in the archives on the differences between the restorations done in Australia, and those done in Washington-I have pictures of the quality from Washington in my gallery-good, but not carefully done(grit and foriegn material under the covering material. For the $, I should have been hard pressed to find anything lacking. I wasn't. The covering looks good, it was the preparation that was lacking-check my gallery. One of our members has a great deal of personal first-hand knowledge of the situation-and he has also placed it for posterity in the archives. If I had another one to do, it would be exported.WIll Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20769-dashboard-restorations/#findComment-174422 Share on other sites
August 30, 200618 yr comment_180390 I was wondering if anyone can tell me if one parts source is better than the others? I have noticed quite a difference in prices between stores. Thanks,Jeff Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20769-dashboard-restorations/#findComment-180390 Share on other sites
