Posted July 13, 200618 yr comment_174394 I have been under the assumption that the shock towers on the Z came with the diamond upholstery pattern on them. Yet, in the '72 car pictured in the photo (purported to be highly original) there is no such pattern. Is this OEM or aftermarket? Thanks, Gary S. July 13, 200618 yr comment_174416 Yep - not original at all - 72's had the diamond-pattern vinyl on the shock towers, trans tunnel, and front edge of the luggage deck.BTW - the luggage deck carpet is not original either and the luggage straps are rigged wrong ... July 13, 200618 yr Author comment_174430 Thanks for your responses. Yeah Goose, I thought the nap of the carpet looked different than my '71, as well as what looks like a bound vinyl edge. Sounds like the seller's got some 'splainin' ta do!Gary S. July 13, 200618 yr comment_174437 I'd rather have a baremetal interior over that leather though, but then again, I'm weird, haha. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20781-is-this-oem-or-aftermarket-upholstery/#findComment-174437 Share on other sites
July 13, 200618 yr comment_174453 I think the non-diamond vinyl was introduced later in the Z's life say 74 260z and 280z onwards. As far as I'm aware the early 240z featured the diamond pattern. Quite a few suppliers have the non diamond pattern I see them on ebay too. However people rarely bid on them. July 13, 200618 yr comment_174497 Maybe the original diamond cut is under what you see in the picture. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20781-is-this-oem-or-aftermarket-upholstery/#findComment-174497 Share on other sites
