yep, those are it :sick::sick::sick:

My opinion, MSA needs to try another design for an alternative Hood Vent. Those things look like sh!t (Excuse my language :) )

THANK GOD sblake had an extra factory hood vent he was willing to sell me :) Me and my Z thank you Stephen LOL

I guess he means these ugly things because those are the only hood vents they list:
If they were the kind that go in the hole from the bottom and stick up like they do in the picture, they might be worth looking into. Otherwise, I'd go with some metal ones with louvers punched into them,like hot rodders use. Those should also go in from the bottom & stick up high enough.

First, you quote my post but edit the link. Then you go back to your original post and edit in the link that I posted!!!??? Then you answer with this rambling, unintelligible statement. WHAT'S YOUR POINT?

The point is that the MSA fiberglass vent looks bad, but if there was one that goes in from the bottom, to hide the bolts, I think it would look better. And I think it would also look good if it was a vent made with some louvers, even though a scoop-type vent might be able to let more air out.

Some hot rod guys use put louvers on the hood in small groups, like the Z has. Some put a whole line or several lines of louvers.

I didn't want the full link to the MSA louvers in my post because it wouldn't help illustrate MY point, and might be mistaken that way. And I put in the same link into post at the time I created it, not after.

I just picked up a 280z parts car and am going to be offering parts up for sale that I don't need including the hood vents. If anyone else is interested please let me know (PM) and I'll get a better photo and what you think is a fair price. They are in great condition, no cracks that I am aware of.

Whatever you say, If you will recall, this thread was about oem hood vents. DZR asked about one, he got one. I don't know what you are talking about but I'm okay with that since this is niether the first time that has happened nor, I'm sure, will it be the last. I'm done here.

"Speaking of cracks. Should the vents lay in tight and not flex? That's probably why they crack. maybe a strip of double-sided tape in one or two inconspicuous spots will keep them from flexing or vibrating."

Huh????? I've never seen a 280Z hood vent itself crack. What tends to break on them is on the underside of the vent, the plastic piece on the corners where the vent gets tightened down in place. The combination of old age and heat from under the hood is the cause usually. Thats what happened to mine. If yours are "Flexing" then yours must not be in tight or one of your corners of the vent are broken because yes, they should fit in tight and flush.
