August 13, 200618 yr comment_178302 FYI, this guys on eBay has some pretty nice looking vents which can be used as an alternative to the stock hood vents.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-HOOD-VENTS-240-Z-280_W0QQitemZ230016947119QQihZ013QQcategoryZ33638QQtcZphotoQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20796-77-78-hood-vents-needed/?&page=3#findComment-178302 Share on other sites
August 13, 200618 yr Author comment_178304 Now thats one hell of a nice looking alternative hood vent. I still prefer my factory ones because I want to keep my Z as original as I can but those are very sharp looking. August 13, 200618 yr comment_178327 Those look really neat- in a modern sense. Do you think you could put some fins inside, like the OEM ones? It could make it look a little more like OEM, but it also has the newer frame that isn't brittle. I'd bet that only knowledgable people would know the dkifference. Either that or just leave it open for more air flow (assuming they're functional vents.)The rally hood was interesting... I wonder if you can aim those lamps, and I'll assume the lamps clear the bumper when you open the hood. August 13, 200618 yr comment_178336 The rally hood would most likely clear those lights as you lift it open. As far as the mounting procedure of their vents I'd rather use 3M Automotive Acrylic Mounting Tape than trusting short sheet metal screws in urethane. But I'll just keep my original hood vents, thank you.
