Posted July 15, 200618 yr comment_174646 I recently purchased a N-66 head from a Nissan/Datsun inventory liquidator on E-Bay.He says it is the equivalent to a 260Z head, and it is NOS. How could I go wrong. Have an F54 short block next to my tired 240Z in Scottsdale, maybe a quick cure?xstates@verizon.net Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20805-z-head/ Share on other sites

July 15, 200618 yr comment_174720 I've never heard of it either. I wonder what it's really from? A later Maxima perhaps, although I thought they used modified versions of the N42 & N47. July 15, 200618 yr Author comment_174724 N-33 looks similar to an E-31 laying around except ports might be a few thousandths larger. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20805-z-head/#findComment-174724 Share on other sites

July 17, 200618 yr Author comment_174875 started FAST, died slowly???????????????Any answers?Probably cc it and measure ports and seats, an an AB test to the lowly E-31.Actually looks to be exactly what the Dealer said it was. He said many E-Bayer's said no such number. So much for E-Bay experts. I'm biased, many of the E-Bayers who follow Z's and 24/7: beat-up Sellers and never bid. They are "bottom feeders" as aptly written by a member at this site. Next step some Manley SS valves, and Comp Cam kit, have the RB cam, and F-54 short block for a relatively complete engine. July 17, 200618 yr Author comment_174888 It is N-33, not the other. Intake on a 260Z head is bigger than a 280Z and some ZX's?Thanks for the info, should work well on a back-up engine and its NOS.On the E-31, are the centerlines closer on those small valves than the later heads with bigger valves?rick Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20805-z-head/#findComment-174888 Share on other sites
July 17, 200618 yr comment_174889 On the E-31, are the centerlines closer on those small valves than the later heads with bigger valves?rickGood question, I doubt it. It would screw up the location of the lobes on the cam I'd think. I dont have any heads off except a E31 right now or I'd check. I'd think the distance between the valve's OD is probably farther apart on a E31 than say a N47. Chris A.
