July 19, 200618 yr Author comment_175088 about that pump and sending unit. I got the sending unit cleaned, still trying to find/order the strainer.I've noticed that the whine I mentioned in post 1 is dramatically worse when it is warm outside. On a nice cool morning, barely a peep is heard and the car is full of gusto. Once it gets hot out, the car takes after me, starts to wheeze (I hate hot weather) and gets a bit hesitant and pokey. I think I will have to get a new pump, or at least re wire the existing one. Any ideas or thoughts about the noise issue? I can't really hear it outside the car, the muffler presents a stronger presence than the pump/tank/mystery noise. The other day, I couldn't get some pics to post either. July 20, 200618 yr Author comment_175243 Thanks for the pics, A local parts shop told me that Ford used to have these filters on their vehicles. I had thought about checking the local(ish) dealership but without pictures, well, that would have been foolish. Now, though... July 26, 200618 yr comment_175993 JK, too. But seriously, I just took out that fuel sending assembly tonight on mine, too. It's way rustier than the pics of zbane's. I tried to post pics, but they are pending approval right now. I do believe everything is functional, but there's big chunks of rusty crap all over stuff. So that means there's probably a layer of YUCK at the bottom of the tank. I was really hoping not to have to drop it, but after reading this thread and seeing the nastiness of that beast that I pulled out, looks like I should. Can that entire unit be replaced at a reasonable cost? If so, where? If not, are there any tricks to restoring the old one to a decent level? July 26, 200618 yr Author comment_176039 U-uns aint from da Sout, isya?JK, Will Nurse Laura, don't you know that Florida is the southernmost Northern state? therefore you shouldn't be concerned about Will and his Southern drawl, your'e a Yank! KIDDING!! To the real stuff-I searched several threads concerning tanks and cleaning them, the only things that were repeated several times were these two things: POR-15 cleaning stuff and taking/sending your tank to a Radiator shop to be boiled (after boiling, you coat with stuff or they do) No one seemed to say much about tank replacements, unless you find a nice used one that is less rusty. July 26, 200618 yr comment_176103 I have pulled a used tank before to clean and ready so the car was only disabled for an afternoon-that is where the sender I pictured came from. The POR kit is hard to beat.WillPS. Florida is the snowbird capitol of the world-almost an annex of the north-give it time...
