Hi All,

As some of you may know I purchased my Z off ebay about a week ago. I really did not get a chance to see the car before paying for it, but I did my research talked in length with the seller and I had the car checked out. Well I receieved the car today and I must say I was blown away! The car was even better than the seller had advertised! The seller said the car was rust free and after having the chance to check the car very carefully (for over and hour with my mechanic) no rust was found anywhere. We even removed the windshield wipers and the cowl and not a spec of rust :)

I drove the car on the freeway for about 70 miles roundtrip and the everything performed better than expected! The car is a 1970 low number car that has the original engine and auto tranny (which I plan to convert to a 4spd.) The paint job is decent but is a shade lighter than the original. The paint is not an issue since I had plans to repaint it anyway. I took it to Pierre's Z center and the owner was amazed with the car.

We took a magnet to the body and was delighted to find out that all the original sheetmetal appears to be free of bondo or fillers! The mechanic stated that he's been in the business for over 30 years and feels that the car was one of the finer examples he's seen. He was so impressed that he called two of his mechanics out of the shop to look at the car. The mechanic also commented that the slotted mags on the car are the originals that were put on the car back in 1970 and not reproductions.

I'm very thankful that I got a clean car that has its original sheetmetal, engine, tranny, wheels and original CA license plates! The things that I have found so far that do not work on the car are the horn, clock (no surprise there), flashers, interior roof light, antennae, fuel gauge and radio. Oh yeah, the AC works but will need further inspection to find out why it does not get cold. Also, the dash has a few cracks so I will need to find a new dash.

Yeah, I love the blue on the early Z's. I'd like to get one with a blue interior some day. I was tempted to buy it when I saw it on craigslist, before it was listed on ebay, but I didn't really want an automatic. Sounds like it went to a good home. Enjoy and post some pics when you get a chance.

I know what you mean. I really did not want an automatic but I figured I could take a clean automatic and swap the tranny for a 4spd. Also, someone mentioned that the automatics may have lived an easier life the the 4spds.
